Bosnia and Herzegovina
Along with all the other members of the EU, Greece recognized Bosnia and Herzegovina in April 1992. The Greek Embassy in Sarajevo went into operation in 1996 and also houses a Consular Bureau, a Commercial Affairs Section and a Defence Attaché Office. The Bosnia and Herzegovina Embassy in Greece has been in operation since 1998.
Political Relations
Bosnia and Herzegovina participates and collaborates harmoniously with Greece in many regional cooperation formats, including the SEECP and the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), the Secretariat of which is hosted by Bosnian and Herzegovina. Within the framework of its regional policy on the Western Balkans, Greece firmly and actively supports Bosnia and Herzegovina’s efforts towards accession to European (SAA with the EU) and Euroatlantic (MAP with NATO) institutions. Greece supports the lifting of the visa requirement for Bosnian citizens in effect as of 15 December 2010. Bilateral cooperation in sectors of mutual interest is increasing steadily.
Economic Relations
