Greece has an Embassy in Nairobi and an honorary consulate in Mombassa. Kenya is represented in Greece through the parallel accreditation of its Embassy in Rome.

Political Relations

The two countries have a relationship of friendship and cooperation. Development cooperation with Greece helped the Bama local community in West Kenya to become self-sufficient, which was the reason for a thank you letter sent by Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga to his Greek counterpart in August 2009. In December of the previous year, the President of the Hellenic Republic presented the Kenyan teacher Tobias Nyabola with an honorary award for his substantial contribution of the fight against poverty by using the means available to the local population.

About 100 people of Greek descent live in Kenya today, mainly occupied in trade and in the cultivation of flowers. Nairobi is the seat of the Holy Archdiocese of Kenya, an Orthodox Patriarchal Ecclesiastical School and a Pedagogical College and the Holy Cathedral of St Anargyri.
