Foreign Minister Droutsas sends his condolences to the President of the French Academy on the death of Jacqueline de Romilly

Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas sent his condolences to the President of the French Academy, Ms. Hélène Carrère, on the death of Jacqueline de Romilly.

In his letter, Mr. Droutsas expressed his warm condolences on the Academy’s loss, underscoring the importance of de Romilly’s scientific work.

As noted in Mr. Droutsas’s letter, Jacqueline de Romilly, in her dedication to ancient Greece, Greek philosophy and all things Greek was a true Ambassador of Greek ideals in our time. Her election to the Athens Academy and conferral upon her of Greek citizenship were symbolic gestures acknowledging here great contribution to the promotion of Greek culture.
