Foreign Ministry spokesman’s statement regarding the banning of the Divine Liturgy in occupied Karpasia

Monday, 27 December 2010

Foreign Ministry spokesman Gregory Delavekouras issued the following statement today following the banning of the Divine Liturgy in Rizokarpaso and Gialousa:

“The banning of the Divine Liturgy on Christmas day in Rizokarpaso and Gialousa is a serious violation of the human rights of the enclaved Greek Cypriots of Karpasia and reveals the true face of the occupation regime, exposing those who support and prettify it.

The unacceptable negative actions on the part of the occupation regime do not contribute to the creation of a climate that facilitates progress in the negotiations and achievement of a mutually acceptable solution on the Cyprus issue.”
