Parliament and Foreign Policy
Parliament and Foreign Policy
Foreign policy is regularly discussed and monitored by the Hellenic Parliament. The Parliament is the forum where the principles and values of Greece’s foreign policy are elaborated, where developments in foreign policy implementation are followed and assessed, with a particular emphasis on matters of Greek national interests. The parliamentary dimension of foreign policy implementation is highlighted by the Ministry political leadership’s speeches before the Hellenic Parliament and the Minister’s answers to MP questions as part of the institutionalized process of parliamentary control on Foreign Ministry officials, their activities and the Ministry’s operation.
