I have the honour and the pleasure to be in Baku, as of the 23rd of August 2013, as the new Ambassador of Greece to Azerbaijan, in order to continue what my predecessors have been doing, since March 1993, on developing bilateral relations and strengthening friendly ties among our countries and peoples.
The Greek Embassy’s presence in Baku, for more than 20 years now, proves that Greece has not discovered Azerbaijan only recently, as they detected, from the very beginning of its independence, the political and economic importance of this country, with which – far beyond historical contacts in antiquity and mythological connotations of chained Prometheus on Caucasus mountain – share world principles and values.
The very recent launching, last June, of our countries’ tight cooperation in the energy sector, through the important developments on Transadriatic natural gas pipeline’s selection and DESFA’s privatization, not only introduce a new era of bilateral relations, but also emerge huge capacity of widening and deepening of our cooperation in every possible sector, both Goverments’ political will being clearly supportive.
The Embassy and the personnel express their readiness to support – and also be supported at – any effort towards motivation of our countries’ priceless potential, in order to capitalize, in the best possible way, all perspectives ahead.
