Foreign Ministry announcement regarding an arson attack on the Patriarchal School of Sion in Jerusalem
“The Foreign Ministry unequivocally condemns the arson attack on a building belonging to the Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem and housing teaching facilities of the Patriarchal School of Sion.
This is a blind act of fanaticism and intolerance that strikes at the maintaining of the multicultural and multifaith nature of Jerusalem.
On the instructions of Foreign Minister Nikolaos Kotzias, Greece’s Consul General in Jerusalem is monitoring the situation closely, has taken all of the necessary actions, and traveled to the site where the attack took place, accompanying His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and All Palestine.
We express the certainty that the competent Israeli authorities will proceed to all the necessary actions for protecting the Patriarchate of Jerusalem and locating, arresting and punishing the perpetrators.”
