5th LA Film Festival (June 2011)
This year’s program was rich with features and shorts which were strong comments on today’s Greek society. The award for best feature film was won by Yiannis Economides’ “Knifer”, for a documentary “The game must go on” by Andricopoulou-Tsepelika, for a short film “RF” by S. Liocalos and the audience award “Without borders” by N. Gadatzis.
Two more movies, which although did not win awards, captured the attention of the audience; “Milk”, by G. Siougas, and the documentary about Rosa Eskenazy “My Sweet Canary” by Roy Sher.
GA Zannos represented ERT that was one of the Festival’s sponsors, together with the Cultural Department of MFA and the Latsis Foundation. Tassos Boulmetis, the President of the Greek Film Academy spoke about Greek cinema at the Festival and had meetings with USC’ Film School and the Academy of Motion Pictures.
There was a very interesting panel discussion about foreign movies in Hollywood.
The Consul General organized a lunch at her residence with Sid Ganis, one of the most important producers and President of the Academy for many years and producers and filmmakers from Greece.
