6th LA Greek Film Festival (31/5-3/6/2012).
The theme of 2012’s Greek Film Festival was “Defeating the crisis through the viewfinder” and was dedicated to the new generation of Greek film makers who are inspired by and put into question the current situation in Greece. Their films, often very low budget, are a comment to current crisis in economy, values, stereotypes etc. 22 feature and short films, a master class on script writing a script by the member of Academy of Motion Pictures Michael Economou, an Industry panel about “Representation in Hollywood” and a tribute to Theo Anghelopoulos, which included the screening of “Eternity and a day” and a panel about his work including Professor Katerina Zaharia, actor Stratos Tzortzoglou and producer Alexis Varouxakis.
The presentation of awards took place at the Consular residence. The Consul General was been awarded for her contribution to the promotion of Greek cinema in California.
