Kazakhstan
Greece established diplomatic relations with Kazakhstan in 1992 and opened an embassy in Almaty in 1997, which was transferred to Nur-Sultan(ex-Astana) in April 2009.
Political Relations
The dynamism of bilateral relations is shown by the upgrading of Kazakhstan’s diplomatic mission to an Embassy in 2009. Greece backed Kazakhstan’s bid for the 2010 OSCE Chairmanship and there is frequent cooperation between the two countries for mutual support of candidacies within the framework of international organizations.
Cultural Relations and Greek Community
There are Greek language course in the Al Faraby and Abylai Khan State Universities in Almaty.
There are between 10,000 and 12,000 ethnic Greeks living in Kazakhstan, organized in several communities
