Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonis Diamataris meets with representatives of the Ecumenical Federation of Constantinopolitans (Athens, 30 July 2019)

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Greeks Abroad, Antonis Diamataris, met today, at his office, with the chairman and secretary general of the Ecumenical Federation of Constantinopolitans, Nikolaos Ouzounoglou and Nikolaos Anagnostopoulos, respectively.

Mr. Ouzounoglou briefed the Deputy Foreign Minister on the Federation’s goals, key among which is strengthening the ties between the Constantinopolitan diaspora and the Greek community in Istanbul. The Federation is a global association of Constantinopolitans with branches in Greece, Germany, Switzerland, the UK and the U.S. The Federation representatives also referred to issues currently of concern to the Greek community in Istanbul, such as the demographic issue, management of community assets, and education for the Greek community.

Mr. Diamataris praised the work of the Ecumenical Federation of Constantinopolitans and underscored the state’s special interest in global Hellenism. The Deputy Minister also stressed to his interlocutors that he will make every effort to help deal with the issues being faced by the Greek community of Istanbul.
