A Japanese government delegation, headed by the State Minister of Cabinet Ryosei Tanaka, met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy and Openness, Konstantinos Fragogiannis, on Wednesday, 24 July, at the offices of “Enterprise Greece,”.

The Japanese official’s retinue included the Director of Japan’s Economic Revitalisation Office, Tomoaki Nakanishi, and the Japanese Ambassador to Greece, Yasu (Yasuhiro) Shimizu, while the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs was accompanied by the Secretary General for International Economic Relations and Openness, Grigoris Dimitriadis, and the President of Enterprise Greece, Grigoris Stergioulis.

The meeting looked at the Japanese government’s interest in investing in hi-tech start-ups in the sectors of innovation, healthcare systems and infrastructure maintenance systems.

After the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs made the following statement:

“In the context of the government’s openness policy and of effective economic diplomacy, I was very pleased to meet with the Japanese delegation today. We encouraged the desire for closer trade and economic relations between the two countries.
We also actively support the Japanese side’s interest in Greek hi-tech start-ups, which is also a recognition of the high level of young Greek scientists.”
