Official Visit of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mardas, in Bucharest Business Forum and B2B Business Meetings «Window to Greece» (Βucharest, June 22-23, 2016)
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mardas, paid a working visit to Bucharest, on the 22nd and 23rd of June 2016, leading a team of 24 Greek companies.
In the framework of this visit, the Deputy Minister held official meetings with the Romanian State Secretaries of Economy, Trade and Business Environment, Mr. Vasiliu, Foreign Investments, Mr. Costescu, and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Badescu, with whom they agreed upon the strengthening of bilateral economic exchanges. He also had the opportunity to exchange views with Greek businessmen operating in Romania, during a lunch organized by the Hellenic-Romanian Bilateral Chamber of Commerce attended by the Deputy Minister. In addition, Mr. Mardas had a short meeting with the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, Mr. Daraban.
A conference on «New Perspectives of Greek-Romanian Economic Cooperation» followed. In his opening speech, the Deputy Minister highlighted the realistic prospects of further enhancing our bilateral trade which represents only 1.23% of the total trade volume of Romania.
From the Romanian side, the State Secretary of Economy, Commerce and Business Environment, Mrs Chiser, delivered a speech referring to recent statistical data concerning bilateral trade and urging the Greek and Romanian companies to further extend their trade relations. The President of the Hellenic-Romanian Bilateral Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Sotiriou, closed the conference.
Later, there were numerous B2B business meetings among the representatives of the 24 companies which participated in the business mission and the representatives of about 80 Romanian companies. The aim was to create a network of contacts with a view to strengthening Greek exports to Romania in the fields of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, food and construction materials and tourism. Τhe aftermath of these meetings seems extremely optimistic.
All actions fall within the programme «Window to Greece» focusing on business extroversion.
