Promoting cultural and educational relations between Greece and Sweden is also at the core of the Section\u2019s activities.<br>In this regard, the Mission is in close cooperation with the Greek-Swedish Cultural Committee, the Swedish Committee for the Return of Parthenon Marbles, Diaspora associations in Sweden, Swedish museums, for example the Mediterranean Museum in Stockholm, the Society of Friends of the Athens Swedish Institute\u00a0 as well as other Greek-Swedish\u00a0 associations.<br>The Embassy is also active within the frames of the recently established Stockholm Cluster of EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture). As a member of the Cluster, the Mission contributes to further promoting cooperation with Sweden and other European countries which form part of the network.<br>The Cultural Section at the Embassy of Greece has organized a wide range of activities which include, inter alia, exhibitions, literary presentations, concerts, lectures, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Greek-Swedish Cultural Committee<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It was established in 1991, within the frames of a bilateral Agreement between the Ministers of Culture of Greece and Sweden. The Committee\u2019s task is to encourage both individuals and organizations towards the promotion of bilateral cooperation and activities in Greece as well as in Sweden. The Committee meets twice yearly and sponsors diverse cultural activities. In 2013, the Commission launched the award \"Greek-Swede of the Year\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Swedish Committee for the Return of the Parthenon Marbles<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Swedish Committee for the Return of the Parthenon Marbles was established in 2003 by the distinguished Hellenist, professor and author Sture Linn\u00e9r. Today, the Committee is chaired by Ambassador Krister Kumlin and represents Sweden in the International Union for the Return of the Parthenon Marbles (International Association for the Reunification of the Parthenon Marbles). Prominent Swedish citizens are among the Swedish Committee\u2019s members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Society of Friends of the Athens Archeological Institute<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Stockholm-based Society arranges a number of cultural activities and seminars of Greek-Swedish interest. Among the Society\u2019s activities, is publishing the quarterly journal Hellenika, providing grants to Archaeology students and researchers at Swedish Universities as well as awarding the annual prize of the \"Friends of the Swedish Archaeological Institute\", and the Sture Linn\u00e9r Award, to distinguished Swedish philhellenes and expatriates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cultural Section The Cultural section at the Embassy of Greece in Stockholm is engaged in the promotion of the Hellenic culture in Sweden, under the main thematic areas of language, literature, archaeology, Hellenic history, classical and contemporary art.
