This year, the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival (LAGFF - www.lagff.org)
\ntakes place online, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, between October 1-15,
\n2020. The Secretary General for Public Diplomacy and Greeks Abroad of
\nthe Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. John Chrysoulakis, opened this
\nyear's Festival with a message to all the contributors and viewers of
\nthis emblematic artistic event.<\/p>\n
The Secretary General stressed,
\namong other things, that \"The General Secretariat for Public Diplomacy
\nand Greeks Abroad embraces this hallmark festival that showcases and
\npromotes the Greek culture, the artistic expression and Greek film
\nproduction to the city of Los Angeles, the heart of world cinema, as
\nwell as to wider international audiences. This is because the General
\nSecretariat supports cultural initiatives promoting Greece in every
\naspect of artistic creation, and is proud to have an active presence for
\n yet another year, via the Consulate General of Greece in Los Angeles
\nand the support it provides to the Greek Film Festival \".<\/p>\n
LAGFF
\npresents new films from Greece and Cyprus and also features works by
\ninternational filmmakers of Greek origin. \"With over 50 features,
\nshorts, docs and animated films, LAGFF 2020 is one of the largest
\non-line Greek Film Festivals in the world. And many films are making
\ntheir North American, U.S. and West Coast premieres,\u201d Artistic and
\nFestival Director Mr. Aristotle Katopodis stated.<\/p>\n
The Festival promotes Greek cinema, cultural exchange and helps to bridge the gap between filmmakers and Hollywood.<\/p>\n
In
\n addition to films, documentaries and animations, the LAGFF program
\nfeatures Masterclass webinars held by entertainment industry leaders
\nsuch as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Paramount Pictures Jim
\nGianopulos, Emmy Award-winning director Greg Yaitanes, and famous
