ISSUE OF PASSPORT

Passports for persons over 14 years of age are valid for 10 years and cost 80,00 euros. Minors up to 14 years of age are issued a passport with a validity of 3 years at a cost of EUR 71,00. Payment can only be made in cash (it is required to have the EXACT AMOUNT).


SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS FOR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION FOR PERSONS OVER 18 YEARS OF AGE

The applicant should appear in person and present:

1. GREEK ID (original). For those who do not have a Greek Identity Card or their ID is old or destroyed, their birth certificate can be issued ex officio.

2. OLD PASSPORT (if an old passport has been issued), even if it is expired

3. TWO (2) RECENT PHOTOGRAPHS OF SPECIAL SPECIFICATIONS (for the specifications click here).


ATTENTION:

-In case there is no identification document in order to make the identification, the presence of a witness is required.

-In order to apply for a Greek passport, male citizens over 18 years of age must have settled their military obligations in Greece. If not, they must present a recent relevant certificate from the competent Military Office. In any case, those interested may contact our Consular Office for information.


SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS FOR THE ISSUE OF PASSPORTS FOR MINORS

1. GREEK ID (for minors over 12 years old). For minors who do not have a Greek Police Identity Card, our Consular issues their birth certificate ex officio.

2. OLD PASSPORT (if an old passport has been issued).

3. TWO (2) TEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHS OF SPECIAL SPECIFICATIONS (for the specifications click here).

Minors under 18 years of age must come in person with both parents or one of them, with a CONSENT of the other, certified by our Consular Office. If the parents are divorced and there is no consent of the parent who does not come to the Consular Office, a COURT DECISION of a Greek Court giving parental care or custody to the parent who comes with the minor is required, as well as an attestation from the competent Court that no appeal has been filed. The Court decisions must be final and irrevocable.

ATTENTION: We draw your attention to the fact that APPLICATIONS FOR MINORS WHO ARE ABOUT TO BE AT THE AGE OF 12 OR 14, should be submitted to the Consular Office at least 2 months before the date of reaching this age, as the type of application to be submitted is different.  Otherwise, the Hellenic Police will reject applications that were submitted to the Consular Office before the age of 12 or 14, despite being completed before the passport issuing procedure was completed.


FINGERPRINTS CAPTURE

The Consular Office shall scan the fingerprints of persons applying for the issue, renewal or replacement of a passport.

The following are exempted from the obligation to provide fingerprints:

A) A) Children under the age of twelve (12) years

B) B) Persons for whom fingerprint receipt is impossible permanently or temporarily, on one or both hands. In that case a medical certificate is required.


DELIVERY OF ISSUED PASSPORTS

The delivery of issued passports takes place οn working days, approximately 6-8 weeks after the application has been submitted. The applicants are informed by the Consular Office.

Upon receipt, the citizen is required to present:

- the old passport (which is cancelled and returned to the holder)

- the receipt given to him/her at the time of submitting the application

- ID card.

The passport is received in person or by a third person with an authorization certified by our Consular Office or issued online (www.gov.gr).

Passports for minors can only be collected by the parent indicated when submitting the application.

Passports not received by the beneficiaries within six (6) months from the date of issue are returned to the Hellenic Police and cancelled.
