Catherine Fountoulaki, Ambassador of Greece to Lebanon
Ambassador Catherine Fountoulaki entered the diplomatic service in 1993. She was assigned to the Department of Political Relations with Cyprus and Turkey at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1995. As Secretary of Embassy, she was first posted in Nicosia, Cyprus from 1996 to 1999, and then at the Embassy of Greece in Vienna from 1999 to 2003.
She returned to Athens in 2003 where she was appointed, as Counselor, to the Office of the General Director of Administration until 2006, before assuming her third post at the Permanent Representation of Greece to the European Union in Brussels from 2006 to 2010.
Between 2010 and 2013, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she was assigned to the Diplomatic Office of the Alternate Minister for European Affairs (2010) and then to the Department of Political Relations with Turkey (2012).
She joined the Permanent Mission of Greece to the United Nations, New York in 2013 until 2017. During her term she was promoted to Minister Plenipotentiary Second Class (2016).
From 2017 to 2019 she was Deputy Director of the Department of Political Relations with Turkey at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2020 she was promoted to Minister Plenipotentiary First Class and became Director of the same Department.
She arrived to Beirut on 9 July 2020 to assume her functions as Ambassador of Greece to Lebanon. She presented her credentials to the President of the Republic on 21 August 2020.
Ambassador Fountoulaki is graduated from the School of Law of the University of Athens. She speaks fluently English and French.
