POWER OF ATTORNEYPOWER OF ATTORNEY
POWER OF ATTORNEY
In order to sign the power of attorney, the principal must possess the corresponding legal capacity, i.e. be over 18 years of age and of sound mind. In order to sign the power of attorney document, the physical presence of the principal before the Consular Officer is required and the principal must provide documents proving his/her identity and residential address.
The text of the power of attorney can also be drafted by a Greek Notary Public or a Lawyer who has knowledge of Greek Law, and it is then sent electronically and in WORD format to the Consular Office of the Embassy in Skopje.
The draft text of the power of attorney is asked to be sent to the Consular Office prior to the principal’s arrival at our Authority for signing. The text must include the identification details of the appointee and the purpose of the power of attorney (e.g. Receipt/renunciation of inheritance, purchase and sell of property, appearance before a Greek court, etc.).
If the principal does not have knowledge of the Greek language, the assistance of an interpreter is necessary when signing the power of attorney. The interpreter is appointed by the principal and must be a person of his/her trust (or certified translator in North Macedonia). The interpreter is obliged to make an accurate translation of the text of the power of attorney and co-sign the power of attorney document along with the principal.
Upon the arrival of the principal at our Authority in order to draft, sign and receive the power of attorney, he/she must provide:
1. his/her valid passport or Greek identity card.
2. a document certifying the exact details of his/her residential address (e.g. residence permit, utility bill, etc.).
