Happy National Day Romania!

The Embassy of the Hellenic Republic extends its most heart-felt wishes to the government and the friendly people of Romania on their National Day. May both our countries and peoples live and prosper, in harmony and cooperation!

This year also marks the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Greece and Romania, relations founded on our two countries’ long historic ties, as the presence of Greek communities in the area has been documented since antiquity. Furthermore, Romania was the theatre of the first attempts that led to the Greek Revolution of 1821 and the subsequent liberation and creation of the modern Greek state.

The relations of our peoples and countries cover a wide spectrum of activities and domains: of Greek businesses, that have a robust presence in the Romanian market, with an important share of foreign investment in the country, of the Greek historic minority in Romania, of Romanians living and working in Greece, as well as of Greeks living and working in Romania, and of the touristic flows from Romania to Greece and from Greece to this beautiful country.

The Embassy of the Hellenic Republic is convinced that this long-lasting and ascending trend will continue in the years to come, with the aim of expanding and deepening our cooperation even further, to the mutual benefit of our countries and peoples.
