TRAVEL INFORMATION FOR GREEK CITIZENS

The Embassy of Greece in Bucharest informs Greek citizens that, as of 3 August 2026, those wishing to travel to Greece who do not hold a valid Greek passport or a new-type Greek identity card may travel using their old-type Greek identity card, in accordance with the applicable Greek legislation (Law 5038/2023, Article 6, paragraph 5).

It is, however, important to note that returning to Romania after 3 August 2026 will only be possible with a new-type Greek identity card or a valid Greek passport.

Greek citizens planning to travel are therefore advised to ensure that they hold the appropriate valid travel document for their return to Romania.
