Cultural Relations and Greek Community

Educational relations between the two countries are regulated by the 1976 Agreement on Cultural and Educational Cooperation between Greece and former Czechoslovakia. It was agreed that the Agreement remain in force following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993.

There are no Greek schools in Slovakia, however Greek language is taught at the School of Classical and Semitic Philology of the Comenius University in Bratislava, where students attend courses of Greek language for one or two semesters.

The Greek community amounts to 1.000 people. In 2017, the number of Greek students in Slovakia is about 770 students.

There is no official Greek Diaspora Organization, however the Greek-Slovak Friendship Association "FILIA" has been active for quite a few years, with members both Greek and Slovak.
