The Embassy of Greece in the UK, the Consular Office in London, and the Consulate General in Manchester will remain closed on Wednesday, 25 March, in observance of the National holiday.
The Embassy of Greece in the United Kingdom, the Consular Office in London, and the Consulate General in Manchester are open daily, except on official Greek public holidays.
Repatriation of the body of the deceased to Greece
Repatriation of the body
•Original Death Certificate issued by the British Authorities duly legalized with an Apostille stamp by the competent British Authorities ).
•Coroner’s Certificate duly legalized with an Apostille stamp by the competent British Authorities . The Funeral office makes arrangements.
•Certificate of Embalming (duly legalized with an Apostille stamp by the competent British Authorities . The Funeral office makes arrangements.
•Attestation by the Funeral Directors for repatriation of the body.
•Document with the flight details.
The above documents, other than flight data, must be translated in Greek, by a recognized translator whose signature will be certified at the Consular Office.
Following the submission of documents, the death Certificate and a Certificate of Repatriation of the body to Greece are issued.
Attention: The coffin should come on the day of the appointment to the Consular Office, open, so that it can be checked and sealed, by the presence of an employee of the Consular Ofiice.
Transportation of ashes to Greece
• Original Death Certificate issued by the British Authorities duly legalized with an Apostille stamp by the competent British Authorities
• Certificate of Cremation duly legalized with an Apostille stamp by the competent British Authorities
• Flight’s Tickets to Greece
The above documents, other than flight data, must be translated in Greek, by a recognized translator whose signature must be certified at the Consular Office.
Following the submission of documents, the death registration if the deceased is Greek citizen and a certificate of transportation of the ashes to Greece are issued.
Attention: The day of the appointment, you must bring the sealed urn with you (if the urn is not sealed we don’t issue the certificate) which must also be sealed by an employee of the Consular Office.

For documents that authentication of the original signature is required, it is priced at 10 Euros for Greek/EU citizens and 30 Euros for third country nationals equivalent in Sterling. |
