Issuing of Personal Number
Since June 2025, Greek citizens can issue their Personal Number, which will unite information found in different registries and will be used as a single identification number for all the transactions with the Greek public authorities. This number is issued only once and cannot be modified, and will also be typed on the new identity cards.
Greek citizens can issue their Personal Number directly online, via the https://pa.gov.gr/ . To connect, it will be required to have taxisnet codes and the authentication code OT sent to the citizen’s mobile number, that is registered with the National Communication Registry (EMEP). The Personal Number can also be issued before a KEP office in Greece, or at the Consular Office in London or the General Consulate in Manchester, for UK residents, especially in case that a) no mobile number has been registered with EMEP, b) you are going to issue a Personal Number on behalf of another person (e.g. minor child), or c) you do not possess taxisnet codes. You will need the following:
- Greek ID card, or Greek passport, provided that you have one
- Be aware of at least one of the following details (ΑΜΚΑ, ΑΦΜ, IDnumber, Municipal Registry Number) and be able to confirm the above.
- In case of Personal Number of minor children, both parents have to be physically present, along with the child, bringing their passports/ID cards, as well as the personal details mentioned above. If one of the parents cannot be present, the other parents has to submi tthe written consent of the adsent parent, legally certified by a Greek public authority.
