The Consul General
Nicolas Sigalas has been the Consul General of Greece in Montreal since July 2014.
Born in Athens in 1968, he grew up in Brussels where he completed his studies and his first professional experience in the EU institutions. He joined the Greek Diplomatic Service in 1999 and served in Argentina and Turkey.
As the recipient of the Andreas David’s scholarship for the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, he was posted in Boston in 2007.
He started his career at the Protocol Department in Athens and was at the Secretary General’s for EU Affairs Cabinet, during the 2003 Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Prior to his current assignment he served at the A4 Directorate for Turkey as Head of the bilateral relations’ section in Athens and for the last two years, as the Diplomatic Advisor of the Minister of Tourism.
He graduated from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) with a degree in Political Sciences-International Relations and holds Master`s Degrees from the ULB and the Fletcher School (Tufts University) in International Politics and International Law. He is the recipient of decorations from Belgium (Officer of the Order of Leopold II), Bulgaria (Order of the Knight of Madara, 2nd Class), and Lebanon (Knight of the Order of Cedar).
He is married to Sofia Rados–Sigalas and has two daughters, Theodora and Stella.
