9/1/2015 Courtesy meeting of the Ambassador of Greece to Romania Mr. Grigorios Vassiloconstandakis with the Romanian Foreign Minister Mr. Bogdan Aurescu
The first courtesy visit by the Ambassador of Greece to Romania, Mr. Grigorios Vassiloconstandakis, to the newly appointed Romanian Foreign Minister, Mr. Bogdan Aurescu, confirmed the excellent level of bilateral relations and cooperation between Greece and Romania, as it is indicated, among other things, by a series of visits and exchanges both at the political level, as well as between high officials of the two countries, throughout 2014.
The two officials examined also opportunities to further strengthen the already intensive bilateral economic cooperation, given the particularly high level of economic and trade exchanges between the two countries and the importance of Greek investments in Romania.
With regard to the energy sector, the benefits stemming for both countries from the interconnection of their energy systems with that of Bulgaria have also been discussed. In this framework, the joint declaration signed by Romania, Greece and Bulgaria in December 2014 affirming the willigness of the three to create a "vertical corridor" of natural gas pipeline linking the three states, has been recalled.
In addition, there has been a review of the close cooperation between Athens and Bucharest on regional and international issues as well as at the EU level.
