Power of Attorney

Procedure
The signature of the power of attorney requires the in person presence of the principal before the Consular Officer,as well as the demonstration of documents proving his/her identity and residence address.

The principal must have the required legal capacity, i.e. the awareness of this actions and the legal age for this, 18 years old.

Prior to this, draft of the power of attorney with full details, prepared by a competent lawyer or notary public in Greeceshould be addressed to the Consular Office via e-mail consular.brt@mfa.gr.

Required documents:
1.    Application form
2.    Valid passport or identity card of the interested party.
3.    The exact details of the principal, including surname, father’s name, mother’s name, address and the number of the Greek identity card with date and place of issue.
4.    Accurate description of the orders given to the authorized representative (purchase, sale, loan, etc.).

If the applicant does not know Greek, or if the level of knowledge of the Greek language does not allow the reading and understanding of texts of a legal nature and content, it is mandatory to hire a translator/interpreter of the applicant’s absolute choice and confidence. The translator/interpreter who will perform the sworn interpretation must appear at the Consular Authority on the day of the signing of the Power of Attorney to read and translate simultaneously to the applicant the document to be signed, which he/she will also co-sign. The costs of the translation shall be borne by the applicant of the notary act.
