Certificate of Transfer of Habitual Residence

The Certificate of Transfer of Habitual Residenceis issued to natural persons (foreign nationals of another member state of the European Union, Greeks or spouses of Greek nationals) who transfer their habitual residence to Greece, so that they are entitled to exemption for their household goods and their vehicle, etc.)

* Permanent residence is the place where a person resides for at least 185 days per 12 months because of personal and professional reasons.

The right of transfer of habitual residence is established on the basis of proof of residence/work of the person or his/her family in the last two years before his/her departure for Greece.

The conditions for the issue of this certificate are as follows:
- No similar certificate has ever been issued in the past by another Consular Authority in the name of the resettled person or in the name of his/her family member.
- The transferee must have his/her habitual residence abroad.

The following documentation has to be submitted:
1. Application form
2.A statutory declaration under Article 8 of Law 1599/1986.
3. Vehicle ownership book
4.Driving license and registration certificate
5.Vehicle purchase invoice
6.Vehicle insurance policy
7.Passports or identity cards of all family members
8.Documents containing the name and residential address of the applicant issued up to two (2) consecutive years prior to the date of applying for the Certificate (i.e. municipal taxes, utility bills, statements of Slovak tax authorities, etc.) that certify habitual residence in Slovakia.  In case of renting a residence, the lease contract will be presented.
9. Birth Certificate (i.e. Certificate of Registration in a Municipality of Greece) for the applicant and for each member of his/her family living with him/her or

Certificate of family status.
The Consular Authority will carry out an ex officio request of the certificate.
10.Certificate of employment and employment contract showing in detail the years of employment.
11. Certificate from a Slovak insurance institution
12.Detailed list of household goods
13.All of the above required documents must be submitted in original and with a set of photocopies for each of them.
