Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis today met with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom, Kate Smith. During the meeting, they discussed future bilateral relations following the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union, and they reaffirmed the excellent relations between the two countries.
Mr. Varvitsiotis stated that the coming time must be used to conclude an ambitious future partnership between the EU and the United Kingdom. He also stressed the importance Greece attaches to respect of the rights of the Greek citizens residing in the United Kingdom.
Ambassador Smith stated that the agreement on the future relationship between the UK and the European Union should be concluded within 2020. Finally, she recognized the creative presence and contribution of the Greek citizens residing in the UK.
