Permanent residents abroad

For information and clarification relating to the provisions of military legislation, visit the website of the Military Service – Military Legal Counselors ( which is updated daily with all developments relating to military legislation and where as holders of gsis details (tax details) the person concerned can seek his enlistment notice.

In accordance with article 25 of Chapter D of the Law 3421/2005 as currently in force and other provisions “On the Military Service of Greeks” permanent overseas residents are defined as:

a. Those whose main and permanent residence has been in one or more overseas countries for eleven (11) consecutive years

b. Those who have been settled abroad for work purposes (live and work, as insured) for at least seven (7) consecutive years in one or more countries.

Permanent resident status may be lost by non-compliance with the required conditions.

Consular Fees: The equivalent of 50 EUROS in GBP
For documents that authentication of the original signature is required, it is priced at 10 Euros for Greek/EU citizens and 30 Euros for third country nationals equivalent in Sterling.
