General Information on entry Visas

Depending on the duration and purpose of your journey to Greece, you may apply for a short-term “Schengen visa” or a long-term “national visa” for a stay of longer than 90 days.

Should you require a visa to enter Greece, you have to make an appointment to lodge your visa application to the Consular Section of the Embassy of Greece in Canberra.

Please be informed that New Zealand residents can apply for a schengen visa to the Embassy of France in Wellington. However, for national visas, please contact us.

You have to apply for a Schengen visa at the Greek Consulate if:

  • your main destination (the Schengen country where you will spend the longest time or where the main purpose for your travel is) Greece or
  • you are spending the same amount of days in several Schengen countries, but Greece is your first port of entry into the Schengen Area.
