General Information on entry Visas

Depending on the duration and purpose of your journey to Greece, you may apply for a short-term “Schengen visa” or a long-term “national visa” for a stay of longer than 90 days.

Please note that under the Visa Code all third-country nationals subject to an entry visa regime must be in possession of a valid visa in order to enter Greece legally.

In order to lodge a visa application with the Greek Consulate General in Melbourne, you will need to make an appointment.

Please note that the Consulate General of Greece in Melbourne does not cooperate nor has authorised any outside so-called "visa agents" to process or provide any sort of information or facilitation concerning visas.

You have to apply for a Schengen visa at the Greek Consulate if:

  • your main destination (the Schengen country where you will spend the longest time or where the main purpose for your travel is) Greece or
  • you are spending the same amount of days in several Schengen countries, but Greece is your first port of entry into the Schengen Area.
