Celebration of the National Day of the Hellenic Republic in Shanghai
The Consulate General of Greece in Shanghai held an event on Mar.21 at “Le Jiangnan, 7th Floor, Life Hub@Bund Central” to celebrate, together with the Greek community, the national anniversary of Greek Independence Day (25th March).
In the context of celebrating this important day for Greece, the event aimed to strengthen the relations among Greeks living in Shanghai, and it was attended by the Greek local community, as well as Chinese, mainly, friends of the Consulate General.
The celebration was introduced with a brief address by the Consul General, Mr. Spyridon Kritikos.
In his speech, the Consul General of Greece, among others, stated:
“The Greek Revolution of 1821 marked the dawn of freedom, laying the foundation for the independent Greek state—the first piece in the mosaic of modern Greece. Today, we gather not only to honor this historic event, but also to reflect on the values, aspirations, and vision that continue to guide our nation. […]The support of the Greek diaspora is indispensable in all these efforts. You, the Greeks of Shanghai and the neighboring provinces, excel in your fields—business, trade, shipping, academia, arts, and letters. You represent your homeland with pride and distinction. I can assure you: Consulate General of Greece in Shanghai is always here for you, ready to support you in every way possible.”
The event included a piano performance and provided a good opportunity to strengthen the bonds and foster closer relations among Greeks living and being active in Shanghai.
The students and academic staff of the Department of Greek Studies of the Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) also attended the celebration.
