National Service

For information and the processing of military service matters, interested parties who are in Greece should contact the local recruitment offices. If they reside abroad, they can contact the relevant recruitment departments of the Ministry of National Defence.

1.    Certificate of Non-Conscription:

•    Identity card and/or passport

•    Certificate of residence of the interested party from their Municipality of residence (Bopaelsattest alle addresser), printed in English, which can be obtained from the website Bestil bopælsattest

•    Application completed at the Consular Office

2.    Issuance of Certificate of Permanent Residence Abroad:

(A) Issuance of certificate for 7 years (Livelihood Establishment):

•    Identity card and/or passport

•    Application completed at the Consular Office

•    Legal livelihood establishment and employment in one or more countries for at least 7 consecutive years

•    Tax declarations for seven (7) consecutive years

•    Employment contracts

•    Any additional supporting documents (e.g., bank accounts, utility bills, leases, documents proving livelihood establishment, etc.)

(B) Issuance of certificate for 11 years (Primary and Permanent Establishment):

•    Identity card and/or passport

•    Application completed at the Consular Office

•    Primary and permanent establishment abroad, either by birth or for at least 11 consecutive years in one or more countries, with a certificate of residence of the interested party from the Municipality of residence (Bopaelsattest alle addresser), printed in English, which can be obtained from the website Bestil bopælsattest

•    School attendance and completion certificates

•    Employment contracts

•    Any additional supporting documents (e.g., bank accounts, utility bills, leases, documents proving livelihood establishment, etc.)

An essential requirement in all cases is that interested parties know their Recruitment Number (ΣΑ).

In cases of primary and permanent residence of the interested party in Denmark after reaching adulthood, for any reason, they must submit the necessary documents proving their continuous residence in the country.

The submission of supporting documents for the issuance of a certificate can take place at any time after January 1 of the year in which the interested party turns 18 years old.

Note: Postponement of conscription is granted by the competent Recruitment Office. For the issuance of any certificate of military status, it is a prerequisite that the granted postponement of the interested citizen has ended or been terminated.
