Greece & Cyprus partner with “Fairway Market” to promote Greek products
The Consulate General of Greece in New York gave its support to a special in-store retail marketing campaign called “Eat Like Greek,” featuring quality products from Greece and Cyprus. The campaign is hosted inside the “Fairway Market” supermarkets and the products are being supplied by the Cyprus- based company “Olive Roots”.
The campaign was launched on September 26 and will last through October 17. After that, the Fairway Market will make the products available through its stores for another six months. The campaign emphasizes the Mediterranean Diet and its merits. During the promotion, Fairway Market will also hold product demonstrations and Greek classes in the grocer’s cooking school ‘The Cooking Place’ and consumers will be able to enter contests to win trips to Greece and Cyprus.
While the promotion lasts, customers will be able to sample such items as halloumi cheese, raw honey, sea salts, jellies, soup mixes, rolls, biscuits, cookies, grains, mineral water, and olive oils.
On September 30, the Consulate General of Greece in New York hosted a special thank you event to the campaign’s organizers. Addressing the event, the host Consul General of Greece in New York Konstantinos Koutras high lightened the importance of initiatives such as “Eat like a Greek” and stressed that American consumers are now offered an excellent opportunity to savor quality products at competitive prices. Mrs. Katerina Barka and Mr. Konstantinos Papalucas from "Olive Roots", the company behind the initiative, that is endorsed by several state and private prestigious organizations in Greece and Cyprus, expressed their appreciation for the strong support of the Consulate General of Greece and the Greek Trade Office in New York. The event was also supported by the Cyprus US Chamber of Commerce and the Cyprus Embassy Trade Office in New York.
Fairway operates 15 grocery stores and three Wines & Spirits shops in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
