Press Release

A reception for distinguished guests from the shipping industry was held on February 5th at the residence of the Consul General of Greece in New York Dinos Konstantinou, on the occasion of the annual shipping conference "HACC-NACC Shipping Conference- Clean Energy In a Changing World" co-organized by the Hellenic American Chamber of Commerce (HACC) and the Norwegian American Chamber of Commerce (NACC) in New York.

In his address to the delegates and the distinguished guests of New York business community, the Consul General of Greece in New York, Ambassador Dinos Konstantinou said that this conference, which has been organized for a long time, has become a traditional pillar of the historically excellent relations between Greece and Norway and, of course, the United States.

In the multiple crises we experiencing today, the coordination of our efforts in the fundamental sector of shipping is of paramount importance, and this is where the wonderful initiative of the two HACC-NACC Chambers has created a very important platform for the exchange of best practices and the promotion of synergies and cooperation between our shipping industries, and by extension our countries, Mr. Konstantinou underlined.

Greece and Norway have a natural historical affinity with the sea since ancient times. From fishing to trade, the two countries share the same challenges in the maritime industry but also the same values: Freedom of navigation, efforts to minimize marine pollution and of course our unequivocal respect for the International Law of the Sea, Mr. Konstantinou concluded.

The Consul General of Norway in New York, Heidi Olufsen, addressed the reception and stressed that Greece and Norway are coastal states with a great relationship with the sea and a long history of maritime industry that have historically shaped the identity and influenced the economy of both countries.
