Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonis Diamataris meets with the President of the Panmessenian Federation of USA and Canada, V. Kalyvas (Athens, 19 August 2019)

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Diaspora Greeks, Antonis Diamataris, met today, at his office, with the President and former President of the Panmessenian Federation of USA and Canada, Vassiliki Kalyvas and Georgios Kalyvas, respectively.

The Panmessenian representatives briefed the Deputy Minister on the activities of the Federation, which has been doing important work for 75 years, helping to preserve the Greek language, Greek cultural and historical heritage, and Greek customs and traditions. For the past 14 years, the Panmessenian Federation has also held a Summer School at the University of the Peloponnese in Kalamata, hosting young diaspora university students from the U.S., Canada, Europe and Russia.

Mr. Diamataris thanked the representatives of the Panmessenian Federation of USA and Canada, stressing that Greece is grateful to them and underscoring that the state will always support their important work.
