Political Relations
Greece and Canada enjoy excellent relations based on a long tradition of friendship and cooperation and are developing across all sectors. The two statescooperate closely within the framework of international organizations, such as the UN, NATO, OSCE and the “Organisationinternationale de la Francophonie”, often supporting each other’s candidacies. Greek-Canadian defense cooperationis at a very good level and is mainly promoted within the framework of NATO and EU-NATO relations, as well as bilaterally. Furthermore, EU-Canadian relations cover,within the framework of the Transatlantic Dialogue, a wide range of political, economic and commercial issues, as well as institutionalized contacts. The strategic partnership the two countries have developed pave the way for the further multi-level enhancement both of their political, economic and commercial ties and their synergies, aiming at addressing the modern challenges in regional and international level. Basic pillars of the said synergies are the Strategic Partnership Agreement and the Comprehensive Economic & Trade Agreement. The Greek-Canadian Agreement on Youth Mobility (2013) gives Greek and Canadian citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 the opportunity to travel, reside and work for up to 12 months in each other’s countries, expanding their horizons and enriching their CVs.Economic Relations

The Greek Canadian community has a remarkable and multifaceted presence in Canada. The majority is predominantly concentrated in the cities of Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver and is active across all sectors of activities (politics, academia, sciences, business (etc.). Two Hellenic - Canadian Chambers of Commerce in Toronto and Montreal have also been established. Faculties of Greek Studies operate in a number of significant Canadian Universities, namely those of McGill, Montreal, Concordia, Waterloo, York, Brunswick, Manitoba and SimonFraser.Useful Information
