According to an official notification by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and pursuant to the Law of Georgia “On Tourism”, as of January 1, 2026, all tourists entering Georgia will be required to hold valid health and accident insurance.
The insurance policy:
may be issued by a Georgian or foreign insurance company,
must cover the entire duration of the visitor’s stay, including arrival and departure dates,
must be available in physical or electronic form, in Georgian or English,
and must provide a minimum coverage of 30,000 GEL.
Certain categories of persons are exempt from this requirement, including holders of diplomatic or official passports, accredited diplomatic staff, and other cases предусмотрed under international treaties and agreements.
This measure aims to enhance visitor protection and align Georgia’s tourism framework with international standards.
