Greece and Poland cooperate closely in the field of culture, through scientific exchange programs and mutually sponsored scholarships. In 2013, a Cooperation Agreement in the fields of Culture, Education, Sciences, Sports, Youth and Media was signed, replacing the 1976 Cultural Agreement.
The Greek Embassy in Warsaw collaborates with a number of cultural institutions and co-organises events with the participation of Greek artists from the entire spectrum of artistic creation (contemporary and classical music, fine arts, theater, photography, cinema, etc.).
Bilateral educational cooperation within the framework of the Erasmus program is proving to be very dynamic, as, through the aforementioned program, the exchanges and the educational visits of pupils, students, as well as teachers and academics from the two countries, are very frequent.
The ancient Greek language is taught in all 11 state universities in the country.
Departments of Hellenic Studies operate at the Universities of Warsaw, Toruń, Poznan, Krakow, Wrocław, while the Interdisciplinary Research Institute of the University of Warsaw operates a Greek Studies Laboratory. At the University of Białystok, the History Department, promotes Ancient Greek and Modern History and Language programs.
The Embassy collaborates with University departments and promotes their educational, training and translation initiatives.
The Greek Diaspora in the country amounts to approximately 6,500 people and there are several Diaspora organizations, which are based in major cities in the country: Warsaw, Krakow, Wrocław, Gdynia, Szczecin, Zgorzelec.
