Political Affairs

The mission of this Embassy is to represent the Hellenic Republic in Sweden and to promote relations between Greece and Sweden.

In this context, the Political Department of the Embassy in close cooperation with the other Departments of the Embassy monitors, analyses and reports on political and economic and other significant developments in Sweden.

It also overviews Embassy’s work in promoting cooperation between Greece and Sweden in specific areas including trade, investment, tourism and cultural exchanges.

Greece and Sweden have very good political, economic, defense and cultural relations and enjoy a good level of cooperation within international Organizations (UN, EU, OSCE, the Council of Europe).

The Treaty of Accession of Sweden to the European Union, was signed in Corfu, during the Greek EU Presidency, on 24 June 1994.
