Military Issues

Citizens residing in the UK regions of North East England, North West England, Yorkshire, East Midlands, West Midlands, Scotland and Northern Ireland should contact  exclusively Consulate General in Manchester for all consular services at grgencon.mch@mfa.gr

All male Greek citizens, between the ages of 19 and 45, are required to serve in the Armed Forces. Greek citizens living outside Greece may seek postponement of their conscription which extends to their 45th year of age. Postponement is granted on the basis of a certificate of permanent residence abroad, issued only by the Greek Consular Authorities. Supporting documents should be submitted only once and not every year. If the military service is fulfilled after the issue of the certificate or passport renewal, it is possible for a new certificate to be issued, if required, for the additional period (submission of additional supporting documents, as specified).

Furthermore, on that website the interested applicants can look for their military documents and summons, as long as they possess the required taxisnet codes.


You should book an appointment only if you have a pending military issue and not in order to make an inquiry. In this case you are kindly requested to send an email at grcon.lon@mfa.gr. In case of general military queries, for instance regarding military postponement, registry with the military office, or general queries regarding the options of male Greek citizens abroad (e.g. for postponement, certificate of non-compliance, or certificate of permanent residence abroad, but not for the submission of documents, you can send an e-mail to london.cso@hndgs.mil.gr or book an online appointment with the Military Support Officer of the Embassy via the platform myConsulLive (category: General military information), regardless of your area of residence in the United Kingdom.


If you wish to book an appointment to issue a certificate of non-compliance, or a certificate of permanent residence abroad, please be advised to book an in-person appointment via our online appointments system or book an online appointment via the myConsulLive platform (category Certificate of permanent residence abroad or certificate of non-compliance for military purposes) .
