International Participation

Participation of Greece in the UN, International bodies and conferences in Geneva and in Switzerland

Being one of the founding members of the United Nations, Greece has always been involved in most multilateral fora with a view to promote dialogue and mutual understanding among nations and of course peace and security in the world.

In this context, Greece has an active participation in the following organizations, international bodies and conferences in Geneva and in Switzerland:

United Nations and other International Organizations
-    European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) – Member/Presidency of the Council for the term 2025-2028
-    International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) - It consists of 191 national societies of the Red Cross and of the Red Crescent (including the Greek Red Cross).
-    International Labour Office (ILO) - Member
-    International Organization for Migration (IOM) - Membership in the Executive Committee
-    Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) – The Greek Parliament is a member of the IPU
-    International Telecommunication Union (ITU) - Μember of the Council
-    United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) – Member
-    Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE)- Member
-    UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR ) - Membership in the Executive Committee
-    UN Human Rights Council - Observer
-    UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (OCHA) – Greece is a donor to OCHA
-    United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) - The headquarters agreement concluded with the UNO (based in New York), in which Greece is a member, is applicable to the UNOG
-    Universal Postal Union (UPU) - Member
-    World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) - Member
-    World Health Organization (WHO) - Member
-    World Meteorological Organization (WMO)- Member
-    World Trade Organization (WTO) - Member
