Dogtooth wins nomination for the Oscars.(February 2011)

For the first time in more than 30 years a Greek Film “Dogtooth” by Yiorgos Lanthimos was nominated for an Academy award. The awards ceremony has been seen by millions of spectators around the world. The nomination coincides with a flourishing movie industry in Greece, where directors of a younger generation create interesting movies commenting on Greek society. The LA Greek Film Festival and the Consulate organized screenings and social events to promote the movie leading up to its nomination.
