Civil Marriage Ceremony in the Consular Section

Required documents:

1.   Applications of the interested parties. 
2.   Birth certificates of the interested parties, issued by the Competent Greek Authorities.
3.   Marriage license issued by the municipality they are registered.
4.   Identity cards or valid passports.
5.  A declaration in accordance with Article 8 of Law 1599/1986 certifying that there is no impediments in the person or in the relationship with the other contracting party according to the provisions of the Civil Code. 
6.  Two witnesses, in possession of a valid passport or ID card, present at the solemnization of the marriage, regardless of degree of relatedness.

After a marriage license is issued, the following procedure is: 

1. The Head of the Consular Office or his legal deputy shall set the date and time of the marriage ceremony.
2. Marriage declaration shall be registered by the Consular Authority to the Greek Authorities through the application of Citizen’s Register and a copy of this act will be given to the interested parties.
3.  Joint declaration determining children’s surname.

Important information: On the day of the civil marriage ceremony at the Consular Office, two witnesses (with passport or identity card).

Cost of the service: -100 € Ceremony of Marriage for those residing in Slovakia
(-200 € Ceremony of Marriage for those not residing in Slovakia)
- 10 € for the declaration of marriage- 10 € for the copy of the declaration of marriage
