In the midst of a global financial crisis and a recession triggered by the country's fiscal imbalances Greece has and continues to implement reforms and restrictive policies, mounting coordinated efforts to regain its credibility and remedy the structural weaknesses of its economy.  These efforts are addressing such important issues as that of public administration, a more efficient government, a business friendly environment, and a new relationship between the private and the public sectors.

Notwithstanding that it is at the epicentre of the international economic crisis, Greece has significant investment opportunities arising from its geopolitical position, its inclusion in the European Union and the Eurozone, its natural resources, its human resources and its infrastructure. The necessary structural reforms accompanying the efforts for financial rationalisation are resulting in the creation of a favourable investment and business environment and create additional investment opportunities. Greece has a reform-oriented, outward looking economy that is focused on long-term, sustainable growth.  Although the agenda is challenging, Greece is committed to enacting the most sweeping changes in history. Without a doubt, at the top of its priorities is developing and maintaining an investment framework and commercial environment that respond to the many needs of the 21st Century, from green energy to a knowledge-based economy.
