On the occasion of today's World Mental Health Day, the Embassy of Greece in Belgium, organized on October 9th, together with the Communaute Hellenique Bruxelles, an event-discussion on mental health issues that touch on modern everyday life: The issues of memory preservation for the elderly and the use of the internet by the new generation.

The Ambassador of Greece to Belgium, Sofia Grammata, in her greetings expressed her joy that the Embassy is hosting a scientific discussion, but also the feeling of pride for the achievements of Greeks, who hold high positions in Belgian society and are represented in the person of Professor Nikolas Mavroudakis.

The event was also welcomed by the President of the Greek Community of Brussels, Philippos Kotsaridis, who stressed that mental health, as important as physical health, is called upon to face particular challenges in today's era and gave the floor to the representative of IASIS NGO, Nikos Baltas, for a brief greeting of his own.

The speakers, Professor of Neurology at ULB Nikolas Mavroudakis and Psychologist St. Alevizos (who presented the work of the NGO IASIS and Connect Brussels) answered the audience's questions about the causes of neurodegenerative diseases and how to protect young people from the threats of the Internet, respectively.

MEP Eleonora Meleti, member of the European Parliament's Intergroup on Mental Health, delivered a recorded message.
