“A theatrical bridge between West and East”- the Embassies of Greece and Japan in Belgium pay tribute to Theodoros Terzopoulos and Tadashi Suzuki (08.04.2025)

An event titled “A theatrical bridge between West and East” was co-organized by the Embassies of Greece and Japan in Belgium in honor of the internationally acclaimed theatre directors, Theodoros Terzopoulos and Tadashi Suzuki, at the Palais des Académies.

In her opening remarks, the Ambassador of Greece, Sofia Grammata, emphasized the close ties between Greece and Japan and highlighted the need for modern societies to safeguard their cultural heritage. The Ambassador of Japan, Mikami Masahiro and the Permanent Secretary of the Royal Academy, Professor Didier Viviers, also addressed the event. This was followed by presentations from academics and scholars who have studied the work of the two creators.

A special video message from Theodoros Terzopoulos was screened, along with excerpts from performances and interviews of both directors.

The event in honor of the distinguished directors Terzopoulos and Suzuki was an initiative of Tasos Papadopoulos and his daughter, Fani Papadopoulou, warmly embraced by the Embassies of Greece and Japan.
