Vital Records

In general, with regard to vital records, interested parties must be aware of the following:

In order for a vital record (birth, marriage, death) to be recorded at the Consular Office, it is an essential requirement that the event has taken place (or, in the case of marriage, has been solemnized) in Denmark.

Furthermore, for birth and marriage registrations, the personal presence of the interested parties at the Consular Office is required. For the registration of a death, the personal presence of the reporting relative, funeral home employee, or any other person who has a legitimate interest is required.

The general requirements concerning the documents requested by the Consular Office for the issuance of a civil status act include verification of the identity and confirmation of the intention of the applicant, as well as verification of the identity of the person to whom the vital records refers.
