C. DIVORCE

Greek Authorities do not recognize divorces issued in Denmark. For their recognition by the Greek Authorities, the following are required:

-Submission of the Danish divorce decree to the Family Affairs Office (Familiestyrelsen) of the Danish Ministry of Justice, which certifies (with an official stamp) that the divorce is final and irrevocable.

-Authentication of the document with an Apostille by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Legalisation Department / Legalisering).

-Translation of the document into Greek by a sworn translator.

-Submission to our Authority of the original divorce decree and its official translation for certification.

Finally, the certified document must be sent, through a lawyer, to the Court of First Instance (Πρωτοδικείο) of the municipality in which the interested party is registered.
