A.BIRTH

1. When the parents are married:

Note: For the registration of a Birth Certificate of a child born within marriage, it is necessary that the Marriage Certificate of the parents has been registered beforehand.

-Birth and naming certificate issued by the local Danish Parish, stamped and signed by the competent official (PERSONATEST). You can find it here.

-Certificate of family status of the Greek parent.

-Passport and/or ID card of the Greek parent, who must be present in person at the Consular Office.

2. When the parents are not married
(case of two Greek parents OR Greek mother with a foreign father)

-Birth and naming certificate issued by the local Danish Parish, stamped and signed by the competent official (PERSONATEST). You can find it here.

-Certificate of recognition (OMSORGS OG ANSVARS ERKLAERING) by the father, certified with an Apostille (Hague Convention) and accompanied by a translation into Greek by a translator recognized by our Consular Authority in Denmark. You can find it here.

-Certificate of family status of the Greek parent.

-Birth certificate of the foreign parent, translated into Greek by a translator recognized by our Consular Authority in Denmark. If the foreign parent is not a citizen of an EU Member State, all foreign public documents must bear the Apostille stamp.

-Passport and/or ID card of the Greek parent, who must be present in person at the Consular Office.

3. When the parents are not married
(case of Greek father and foreign mother)

For the declaration of recognition of a child born out of wedlock to a foreign mother and a Greek father, the procedure followed is that of acquiring Greek nationality through Recognition.
(This applies exclusively to a child whose parents have not contracted marriage, or a child born before the parents’ marriage.)

-Form completed upon your arrival at the Consular Authority.

-Birth and naming certificate issued by the Danish Parish (PERSONATEST), certified with Apostille and accompanied by a translation into Greek by a translator recognized by our Consular Authority in Denmark. You can find it here.

-Certificate of family status of the Greek parent.

-Birth certificate of the foreign parent, certified with Apostille and accompanied by a translation into Greek by a translator recognized by our Consular Authority in Denmark.

-Certificate of unmarried status of the mother, certified with Apostille and accompanied by a translation into Greek by a translator recognized by our Consular Authority in Denmark.

-Certificate of recognition (OMSORGS OG ANSVARS ERKLAERING) by the father, certified with Apostille and accompanied by a translation into Greek by a translator recognized by our Consular Authority in Denmark. You can find it here.

-Certified copy of the foreign mother's passport.

-Passport and/or ID card of the Greek parent.

-Residence permit of the foreign mother (for non-EU nationals).

The declaration must be made in person by the holder of Greek nationality at the Consular Office.

Note:
If the child is under 18 years of age, the application for their registration is submitted by the Greek parent.
If the child is an adult, the application must be submitted by the person themselves.
